You're Going to Have to Rough It!

And we have been. We finally finished moving into our new house this last week! It's a tiny one room apartment with giant cockroaches, but no rats, thankfully. We moved in this last Tuesday with the help of our Zone Leaders. We were on exchanges so we decided to use the extra man power while we had it. So we now officially live in Basud, a city right outside of Daet. It used to be a branch, but was eventually just combined with Daet 2nd. There are over 200 Returning Members, and all of our progressing people are from there. So we're excited to be closer to it, and to start getting more work done in that area.

We had two exchanges this week. One, of course, was with our Zone Leaders. I was again with Elder Cotten and I got to work in their area. They have a cool area of focus, and a lot of super cool people being taught. We spent most of the day, though, taking apart and moving our beds and desks. We have a member, named Bro. Henry, who helped us move. He drove his Jeepney over and we finally got officially moved in. We didn't get to sleep there though because we slept at the ZL's apartment, but it was good to get it all officially moved.

The very next day we had exchanges with our District Leader, Elder Orbilio. I got to work with him while his trainee got to work with Elder Shepherd. We visited a ton of Part-Members and Returning Members, because there are a ton in this ward. We got to help them out a little bit, and testify of Jesus Christ. We then finished the day with a good dinner at a member.

We spent our first full day in the new apartment on Thursday, which was great. We still don't have any supplies (washing machine, gas stove, ironing board, and closets), but we were told to rough it. So we've had to do some ghetto ways of getting stuff done, but we've made it this far!

Despite it, we've had a good work week, with some solid PBD's and hopefully more on the way! We'll see what we can do in Basud. Funny story though, we had this guy come up to us in the Barangay called Taison and he told us that he knows the Catholic church is wrong, so he asked us to come and teach him. He could have also been a little wasted, but it's hard to tell at times here.

Isaac is doing swell. He's learning to balance how to respond to the priesthood line of revelation and how to meld that with his personal line of revelation. Still working on "submissiveness". We had a good chat about that last night. I think that is one of the huge lessons of life ... learning to align and submit to Jesus' and Father's will.

Isaac loves being more in the middle of his area and is enjoying working with the Returning Members (I think we used to call that group "Less Active").A PBD is a Potential Baptism Date (what used to be called "investigator"). I like that the labels for some of these groups are becoming a bit more positive.

He still enjoys working with Elder Shepherd. They hope to be together again for one more transfer, especially since they now live in the area where they work most. We'll see what next week brings.

He's a little bummed that his great grandpa passed away this past week and he wasn't here to say goodbye, but he was positive about it. The plan puts an extra lens of clarity on things that the world might consider devastating.

Overall, another good week. He's happy and is enjoying the work. He loves the people and is grateful to be a missionary.
