You'll Be Judged by Your Planners!

I don't know about that one, but that's what we were told, and it's been the joke of the week. This week was crazy! We actually had a lot of things happen. Some good, some not so good. But in the end it was pretty good. We had a couple of cool things happen this week, so here's the rundown:

We had exchanges early this week, which was a lot of fun. I ended up going with Elder Cotten again while Elder Shepherd went with Elder Bandoli. Most of the day was me and Elder Cotten trying to get our contract back for our house (which we got). Then we just did normal missionary work until Elder Cotten roasted a Catholic, that was pretty funny. He kept telling me he felt bad afterwards. Elder Shepherd enjoyed exchanges though, and learned a ton from Bandoli. It was successful to say the least.
Earlier in the week, a member brought us to this LA member in order to give the Tatay there a blessing. He was wheezing and couldn't move, so he was in bad shape. We blessed him, but didn't bless him to be healed, rather reminded him that God loves him, and that the time for him to go home was close. We blessed him with peace and then left. We were told, immediately after we left the house, he passed away. It was an interesting spiritual experience.

We had Zone Conference this week, which was cool. It's always the best to see the other missionaries, and it breaks the monotony of the work. Changes it up a bit. Plus you get free food, which is always a plus no matter what. This Zone Conference was as little strange, a little different from the usual. We reviewed the data of the mission and how to strengthen our numbers. Also we were given a lot of tools to help us do the work.
We actually workwise didn't do too hot because this week was crazy busy. Between trying to buy a house, zone conference, and crazy people, we didn't get a ton done. So we were a little worried at first, but yesterday we had a ton of people at church, which was awesome. So it was a bad work week that ended up with great results. Why it works like that, no idea.
Overall, a good week. We haven't moved into our new house yet, but we should tomorrow. There's been a lot of delays. So we should be moved in this next week, and then we'll just go crazy because we'll be close to Basud now. That's all this week though!
All is Well

Always great to talk to Isaac. He doesn't write much detail in these weekly emails, so we are glad to get the details vocally through the weekly call. He says he does record in his journal every day, so hopefully the details are there, too.

He is looking forward to moving into their new apartment in Basud. When they changed the mission area boundaries in the ward a few months ago, they ended up not even living in their current area, so this will be much better. He and Elder Shepherd are still enjoying being together. They will have been together three transfers, or about 18 weeks, by time transfers roll around again. Isaac tells us every week that he has learned that it is VITAL to choose an eternal companion wisely ... he knows what it's like to have companions that he can work with and those with whom he struggles.

Isaac is an expressive person. He is big in stature and in personality. You KNOW when he's in the room. He values connection with others. He thrives on getting to know people and helping people whether they want help or want to be known or not. :)  I have always called him a bull in a china shop. Because of that, he struggles a bit with the "numbers" part of the mission. We just keep telling him that the most successful missionaries are those who learn to love the people and to lose themselves in service to others. Don't worry about the numbers, we keep saying. Worry about the people. We hope he's learning that lesson. We think he is. That where he excels ... just getting to know the people.

The title of this week's post is about someone telling them that Jesus will judge them by how meticulous their mission planners are. Isaac said he wasn't sure about that one. :)

He shares his testimony of the Book of Mormon in just about every weekly call. He is truly converted. We love hearing about that love each week.

Just over 7 months to go. The second year is SO MUCH FASTER than the first.
