You're Not Transferring!

We got transfer calls this last Saturday, and it turns out I'm also Elder Shepherd's follow up trainer as well. Usually after their training, the trainer transfers out, but it looks like I'm here for another 6 weeks which is good because we have a ton of Christmas parties to go to. So I'm going to be here for a little longer which is good. I've fallen quite in love with Daet. Elder Shepherd is chill with it as well. We're just given a little extra time to help some people here come unto Christ.

This week was crazy, because of 3 things. We had two exchanges this week with our new District Leader, Elder Orbillio. Back to back exchanges, which was fun but also draining. I got to work with his trainee Elder Madamba, which was cool, because we were able to learn a little bit about how to use the Book of Mormon. It was a lot of fun, and there was a lot of cool people in there area we got to meet. We then eventually got to get back to our area, which work was cut short because we helped the Zone Leaders set up our zone conference.

Zone conference was a blast though! We had the regular messages that inspired us to go and serve with all our heart, might, mind, and strength. We had some really fun minute-to-win-it games which got us pumped up. One of the games we had to dress someone up as Santa, so I've got an interesting picture later in this email. We also did a cool service project where we prepared newborn kits, and we've had some opportunities to give some of those out, and simply wish Merry Christmas. It's been fun. Our Zone then put on a musical play, and I was a fancy narrator in an ugly sweater. It was overall a pretty successful Zone Conference.

The work is also going well. We finally have someone with a set baptismal date, and we're working on helping some others get there. The work is hard, but were starting to see some progress. And we've now got a little more time to that. Till next week!

It's always great to hear from Isaac. We think he was kinda bummed that he wasn't transferring, but he's happy to stay in Daet and he really likes Elder Shepherd, so he is dealing with it. He says that so  much of how good the mission is depends on your companion, so he's glad Elder Shepherd is "chill".

Like anything in life, when you think something is going to happen, and it doesn't, it just kind of messes with you a little. He is glad to be staying in a place he's been in for awhile for Christmas, as well. He thinks he'll probably only have one more area after this. He was in the Iriga Zone for almost 10 months and now will have been in Daet for 4 months by time transfers come around again in February 2020. He's happy though.

We had a tender moment when we asked him if he's glad to be a missionary even with some (many) of the trials and setbacks he's had. He didn't answer right off and then just started to weep. He said, "I can't imagine the day I will have to take this tag off. I don't ever want to take this tag off." He regained some composure and just said, "Yes, even with all the crazy things I've dealt with, I have come to know Jesus and God, and it's been so worth it. Everyone should serve a mission."
