Was It Worth It?
This week was a bit of a nostalgic week, lots of reflecting. Lots of old memories reflected in the present like shadows. This week had a lot of super cool things happen, and hopefully I won't go on to much of a rant about them. But bear with me, I'm going to take you through some amazing experiences.
This time last year was when I finally left the MTC (after a lifetime, or so it seemed). On Oct. 31, I entered the field for the first time, with none else but the fearless Elder Richards by my side. I was confused, scared, and had massive stomach problems. My father (trainer), on my first day took me to the local cemetery, where we were able to experience this beautiful thing called All Saints Day, a day to celebrate the dead, or, as they say it, the ones we loved. It's a magical night, filled with candles, flowers, jungles of concrete boxes, and the stories told of the ones of old. That was my first day in the field, and I was in awe with all of it. We spent the night testifying to everyone about the beautiful plan God has for us. About how death is not an end, but a new beginning. It was a night I've reflected and remembered my entire mission.
A year later, I was able to do the same. This time with my son (trainee) and do the same. And it was just as great as I remembered it. The beauty of the night was amplified through the memories of the past, reflected in the flickering shadows of the candlelight. The same spirit of sacredness and respect was there that night, as it was the year before. This time with someone different, and me hopefully a little more experienced, but nevertheless a visit to the past. It was a super cool night. Elder Shepherd really enjoyed it as well. The sad thing is this is the last time I will get to experience it. Which calls to attention, how far I've come. And how much little time I have left.
I also went on exchanges with my zone leader, Elder Cotten, who of course is my batch-mate from the MTC. Amidst the teaching we were able to talk about everything that's happened since then. We both have gone through some crazy experiences. Some were good, others not as much. But of course in that day, the question was brought up. Was it worth it? Yes. Every second of it.
All is Well

Other photos of Isaac we've received through Facebook or email:
Isaac is still doing well. Brother Harris received the Aaronic priesthood on Sunday. Isaac said that was a great thing to be part of. He and Elder Shepherd are working hard. He was able to go on exchanges with Elder Cotton and had a great experience with All Saints Day. I am glad he wrote about it here.
He has been out 14 months on 12 Nov, but since he will come home Sept 2 or 3, 2020, he only has less than 10 months left as of yesterday. He kept saying how crazy it is that he has such little time left.
Since the time changed, they are now 13 hours ahead instead of 12, so he called about an hour earlier! That was great, too.
Said that Elder Shepherd is doing well and that Tagalog is starting to come along, too.
