R.I.P., My Camera

Well might not have pictures for a while. My camera is absolutely ruined because Daet got hit by a lower part of a super typhoon this last week. So we didn't die, but my camera did. And everything else. It poured all week, and for the little time we did get to work, we just got drenched. And of course when it rains, nobody wants to talk to ya, so it was fun. It's still raining, even as I write this. I'm ready for the hot season again (but I will regret these words in the future).

My companion also got super sick again this week. His stomach once again tried to kill him, so I got to play doctor once again. I might be ready for medical school after this. Anyway he wasn't doing so good on the way back from an appointment, had an emergency then was out for a couple days. So that was fun, I got some good studies at least.

The zone leaders are out though, they finally moved out this last Wednesday. We came home early and helped them get everything out. We miss them because they were cool, but our house is no longer super tight. So there was an upside of this week.

Well, we keep going along. Were reworking our teaching pool. Dropping people who are not progressing, and sticking with people that our. Were going to do a lot of finding this week though. But finding has always been fun. So it should be exciting. That's it this week!

Good to talk to Isaac again this past Sunday. He is as happy as he's ever been. Just loves being a missionary. It was a 'down' week for him because of the storms, etc., but he's still positive.

Lately, Isaac's been learning about ward councils and how the heartbeat of a ward is kinda set by the ward council. When there isn't a functioning ward council, then the rest of the body of the ward is a little off kilter. He mentioned that most of the ward council is made up of young single and married adults, so they have no idea how a ward council runs. He said that the Church is just so new there that there is no 200 years of "Church legacy" to rely on. Everyone needs to be taught not only what we believe, but also HOW we function as the Lord's Church.

Isaac can get pretty passionate about the things he cares most about, so he's trying to help the bishop to help the ward council to "do their job". As a kid, Isaac would get up in Sacrament meeting and in his way, let the ward know "what for". I remember one time, he was about 10 and bore his testimony about just being brave to share the gospel. He was so passionate and serious about being brave and just "doing it". He couldn't understand why someone wouldn't want to share the gospel. When he was 6, he told a waitress that God doesn't want us to drink coffee when she asked us if we wanted some. Flustered her. Big time. So, we hope in his zeal to help the ward council, he is doing it with love. He assures us that he is. :)

He told us of a couple whose last name I don't remember who were sealed in Manila Temple. They are young and have a daughter who has diabetes. The reason they don't come to church is because the dad works two jobs to be able to pay for the insulin for their daughter. The mom works, too, I think and then cares for the little girl. He said that he and Elder Shepherd don't know what to say or do in times like that. He said they just keep visiting with them, though. I think that's probably one of the best things -- just making sure no one feels disconnected or unconnected.

He has loved Daet, but knows he'll probably be transferred the week before Christmas. Elder Shepherd will be done with his training. Isaac keeps saying how aware he is of the time and how little he has left. He told us he'll be flying home 9 months from next Monday (Dec 2). 9 MONTHS!!! Wow!

  1. please pass my love to Elder Bills and to the Igos Family. Glad to hear He is doing Great. I just want to let you know how amazing your son is. He has such a strong testimony, and is one of the hardest working missionaries I know in Our Mission.
