Country Boy in the Big City
Goodbye San Ramon, hello Iriga! For those of you who don't know, I transferred last week, so I'm out of San Ramon! And I'm in Iriga now! And it's a massive city! With tons of buildings, and even more people. Definitely a change from San Ramon. Definitely a lot louder and lot more hectic. It's awesome here though! A lot of stuff to see and people to meet.
We talked to Isaac again last night (third time in three weeks). He may call less frequently as it's becoming a little difficult to come up with new things to talk about each week, but he did give us an update on his new area and companion. He already new Elder Nalbog from his last district, so that's a plus. Elder Nalbog also knows English, so that's another plus. Isaac is the only American in his district right now. There are 7 or 9 other missionaries in the district. He couldn't remember. He's only been there a week.
His apartment in Iriga has a shower and flushing toilet, so he was super stoked about that. There were 120 people to church on Sunday and 6 PBDs or investigators. He likes that they can just go to the "Central" (I think that's what he called it) to get food and other things he needs ... it's much more civilized in Iriga. His MTC companion preceded Isaac in this area, but is now going to a more rural area like Isaac just left. Isaac said Elder Ruppe was a little nervous. We are glad Isaac had the "harder" area first and now is feeling blessed to be in Iriga.
He looks good and sounds happy. His 6-month mark is tomorrow (March 12).
He mentioned that when he was in San Ramon, sometimes the people would ask him why he was so fat. He said in Iriga, people tell him he's very guapo. So, yeah, we think he's going to like it in Iriga. His companion goes home in August, so Isaac thinks he'll be with Elder Nalbog for at least the next two transfers and then he'll stay at least one more after that. Isaac seems perfectly content with that. :) He really likes his new area.
My companion is also a familiar face, say hello to Elder Nalbog! He was my district leader in Ocampo, so we knew each other before this, so it's dope!
The branch is good to, it's massive, and we have a ton of people attend! Sorry for the short letter this week but, I got some stuff I need to do and I'm out of time. Till next week!
