Christmas Call
This is Shawn writing. We didn't hear from Isaac this past Sunday night/Monday morning. His companion wrote in his group email (which Sadie is now on) that they didn't have time to write this week but that they are ok. There was an earthquake in southern Philippines on Saturday the 29th, but the Naga Mission was not adversely affected. Sister Zapanta messaged parents on the Philippines Naga FB page that all missionaries were safe and accounted for.
We DID get to talk to him on Christmas Eve (his Christmas). Technology is pretty remarkable to be able to let us SEE and TALK to him. Miss that smile of his. He is happy. His Tagalog is much better than I think he thinks it is. He asked if he could bear his testimony to us in Tagalog before he signed off. It was a sweet experience. The kids loved talking to him.
He is doing well. He knows he's in the sticks but says the views are beautiful. He and Elder Richards go to Ocampo about 3-4 times per week to shop, for meetings and for P-day. That's the closest 'city' to him in San Ramon. He also talked about videoke, which is something the natives LOVE to do well into the night.
He seemed positive and happy. It's definitely been a culture shock, but he is adjusting. He LOVES Filipino food and fruit... he's learning how to prepare it, he says. He eats a lot of rice.
Anyway, just thought you'd like to know and I needed to record this before I forgot what we talked about. He will be out 4 months on the 12 January. In all, he's doing GREAT!
